If 3/4 and 12/x are equivalent, what is the value of x?

x=16 

3*4 = 12
4*4 = 16
thus
3/4 * 4/4 = 12/16

x would equal 16 because you can set up equivalent proportions. If you do 12/3 you get 4. Therefore x/4 should equal 4. You can multiply 4*4 which gives you 16. Therefore x = 16. Hope this helps.
