9/20 plus 3/20 equals to 12/20, which is equal to 6/10, which is equal to 3/5

You have to add, and since the denominators are the same, you can add the numerators. 9/20 plus 3/20 is 12/20. This can be simplified by 4, so you divide the numerator by 4, then, divide the denominator by 4. You will then get 3/5 which is the simplest form.
